The Philadelphia Neurological Society was founded in 1883 by Dr. Charles Mills, Wharton Sinkler, Francis Dercum and J.K. Eskridge. The first officers elected were S. Weir Mitchell, President; Charles K. Mills and Isaac Kerlin, Vice-Presidents; James H. Lloyd, Secretary-Treasurer; Lewis Brinton, Recorder; and Drs. Eskridge, Sinkler, Jones and Brubaker, Councillors.
The goals of the Society are:
promote the study of neurology in all its departments
provide a forum to share technological advances in the field of neurosciences
